Answering the Call First World War Recruitment and Propaganda Poster Competition

Springside West Secondary College proudly celebrated the achievements of 15 Year 9 student finalists in the Humanities Faculty’s Answering the Call First World War Recruitment and Propaganda Poster Competition.

The competition showcased an outstanding range of student creativity, historical understanding, and thoughtful reflection on Australia’s wartime history and understanding of the power of propaganda and recruitment posters during the First World War.

Congratulations to our competition winners:

Helina Habte (9B) – 1st Place
Dhanvi Sharma (9K) – 2nd Place

We were honoured to welcome special guest judges – historian Lambis Englezos and volunteers from the Shrine of Remembrance, Robyn Miller and Drew Gordon, who generously gave their time and expertise to support our students and judge the competition entries.

The judges and Humanities staff were incredibly impressed by the quality, creativity, historical accuracy, and powerful messages demonstrated across all finalist posters. Each student should be extremely proud of their efforts and the dedication they showed throughout the competition process.

Congratulations once again to all our finalists for their outstanding achievements and contribution to Humanities learning at Springside West Secondary College.
