Curriculum

The Year 7 -12 curriculum here at Springside West Secondary College is organised based on our three sub-schools: the Junior, Middle, and Senior years. The curriculum framework follows the Victorian Curriculum and prepares students for pathways into the VCE and VCAL.

JUNIOR YEARS

The Junior Years program at Springside West Secondary College, provides students with a broad overview of the various subjects and pathways on offer, whilst also meeting the requirements of the Victorian Curriculum. All students undertake a core program for two years.

MIDDLE YEARS

The Middle Years program at Springside West Secondary College provides students with the opportunity to begin diversifying their academic program, whilst also meeting all of the requirements of the Victorian Curriculum. As outlined below, students engage in a combination of core programs, as well as elective rotations beginning in Year 9 and expanding into Year 10.

SENIOR YEARS

There are two types of programs available to students at Springside West Secondary College:

  • Victorian Certificate of Education [VCE]
  • Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning [VCAL]

Within each of these programs students have the opportunity to participate in a Vocational Education and Training (VET) course of their choice.
